2007 EVENTS

A tree planting ceremony was held at 10am on April 27th, 2007 in the City Park to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Ozawkie Arbor Day, as well as, to celebrate the City becoming a Tree City USA. City Clerk, Melissa Zimmerman, read the Arbor Day proclamation. Park Commissioner, Elke Lassiter was aided by the maintenance department in planting a budding crab tree and made a speech recognizing Ozawkie as a Tree City USA:

"Almost everyone knows that trees and other living plants are valuable to help beautify our surroundings, purify our air, act as sound barriers, manufacture precious oxygen, and help us save energy through their cooling shade in the summer and their wind reduction in the winter.

Our Goal is to plant and take care of our trees, as well as continue the Tree City USA for all the years to come."
