City Seal Project
At the
September 11th, 2006 Council Meeting, former
Councilmember, Terry Marsh informed the Council that he
was going to be contacting area schools to ask for their
participation in a City Seal Project.
The Project:
Terry
Marsh sent a letter to 5 area schools inviting their art
classes to participate in a competition to design a City
Seal/Logo for the City of Ozawkie. The first place
winner of the competition would be eligible to have his
or her design made into the City Seal/Logo for Ozawkie.
Every art student was encouraged to participate, and the
art teacher from each school was asked to narrow down
the results to his or her top three choices and send
them to the City. From there, the Council was to
pick a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. The winner's
were picked based on 3 categories:
Each art
department was given information about Ozawkie, including
the history of the City.
The entries were to be submitted by the beginning of
January, before the January Council Meeting, so that the
Mayor and Council could choose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
entries. The Council received a resignation from Terry
Marsh at the December 11th Council Meeting, and the Council
agreed to have City Clerk, Melissa Zimmerman, continue the
project. Later, Terry Marsh was assigned Project
