How to calculate
your City taxes based on the City's mill levy:
Basically, 1 mill generates $1.00
for every $1,000 of assessed valuation. The
constant assessed rate is 11.5%.
THE EQUATION
your house value x 11.5% = assessed
value
assessed value x mill levy = x
x / 1,000 = amount paid per year
So, if your house is
worth $100,000, 11.5% of that is $11,500. Multiply
$11,500 by the increase of 7.719 (for the 2009 budget
year) which equals $88,768.50. Divide $88,768.50
by 1,000 which equals $88.77.
Therefore, on a house worth
$100,000, the 7.719 mill levy increase will cost $88.77
more for City taxes per year.
And...
On the same house worth $100,000,
the actual City mill levy of 26.155 will cost $300.78
per year.
